Depending on your residency and the type of services we provide to you, you may have certain rights and can ask us to do various things with your personal information. For example, you can ask us for a copy of your personal information, ask us to correct mistakes, change the way we use your information, or even delete it. We’ll either do what you have asked or explain why we are unable to: usually because of a legal or regulatory competing obligation.

You can make any of the requests set out below using the contact details provided to you in your program/plan documentation or this Privacy Policy.

You may have the following rights in relation to our use of your personal information.

The right to access your personal information

You may be entitled to a copy of the personal information we hold about you and certain details of how we use it. There will not usually be a charge for dealing with these requests. Your personal information will usually be provided to you electronically where possible. Where not possible, or where otherwise agreed, we will provide your personal information in writing or other available formats.

The right to rectification

We take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we hold about you is accurate and, to the extent necessary, complete. However, if you do not believe this is the case, please contact us by using the details shown below and you can ask us to update or amend it.

The right to erasure

In certain circumstances, you may have the right to ask us to erase your personal information, for example where the personal information we collected is no longer necessary for the purpose for which we have told you we will use it, or where you withdraw your consent. However, this will need to be weighed against other factors relevant to the type of personal information we hold about you and why we have collected it. There may be some legal and regulatory reasons which means we cannot comply with your request.

Right to restriction of processing

In certain circumstances, you may be entitled to ask us to suspend using your personal information for a period, for example where you think that the personal information we hold about you may be inaccurate, to allow us to verify the accuracy, or where you think that we no longer need to process your personal information, but we need to keep it for legal reasons.

Right to data portability

In certain circumstances, you may have the right to ask that we transfer any personal information that you have provided to us to another third party (e.g. another insurance provider) of your choice. Once transferred, the other party will be responsible for looking after your personal information.

Right to object to direct marketing

You can ask us to stop sending you marketing messages at any time. Please see the Marketing section of this Privacy Policy for more information.

Rights relating to automated-decision making

In certain circumstances, you may have the right to request that you are not subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal effects of similarly significant effect.

We currently do not conduct any automated-decision making that falls under the scope of this right.

The right to withdraw consent

For certain uses of your personal information, we may ask for your consent. Where we do this, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Please note in some cases we may not be able to process your application or claim if you withdraw your consent.

The right to file a complaint

If you believe that we have not complied with this Privacy Policy, you have the right to file a complaint by contacting our Data Protection Office. The contact details can be found in the “Contact details of the Data Protection Office” section below. We are committed to resolving your complaint to the best of our ability. If we are unable to do so, we will provide you with information on alternative courses of action.
